Lemosho, the best route when it comes to acclimatisation, is the longest route on Kilimanjaro, approaching from the western side of the mountain. Wildlife and big games can be seen on the first 3 days and with its heath and moorland zones, it has a lot of beautiful scenery. It joins the Machame route at Shira 2 Camp and Umbwe route at Baranco Camp, thus sharing the features of those routes. We recommend 8 days or more for the best acclimatization, but the route can be done in 7 days as well.
We depart Moshi for Londorossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours, where you will complete entry formalities. Then drive to the Lemosho trailhead (another hour to reach the trailhead). Upon arrival at trailhead, we eat lunch, then commence through undisturbed forest which winds to the first camp site.
